THANK YOU to everyone that made a donation to Recovery Café through the Seattle Foundation’s GiveBIG Day on May 5. Through the generosity of 115 donors, we received over $25,000.
In sharing the results, Recovery Café’s Director of Resource Development, David Uhl, wrote this:
“In the midst of GiveBIG, I had my Recovery Circle [weekly loving accountability group]. Two people sharing was especially powerful for me today.
The first talked about finally getting her social security disability hearing in June, and was hopeful that she would finally be able to get some steady income to find housing and achieve some stability.
The other person had housing but every time she received money, the drug dealers in her building pressured her to use. She wants to stay clean but finds it incredibly hard where she lives. I am happy to see so many generous gifts, because every dollar we received deepens our mission to offer support and healing to each person that comes through our door, especially those struggling with homelessness, addiction and mental illness.”
We are greatful to everyone that gave, and for our Members for participating in our GiveBIG campaign by participating with us to take pictures of them holding signs of support.
