Recovery Café was honored to gather in celebration with a roomful of friends at our SODO Café last Saturday. We were there to show our appreciation for our SODO Capital Campaign supporters and our legacy donors. They were honored with artistic dedications: a stained glass fixture in the second story window recognizes our SODO Capital Campaign supporters, and a beautiful tree mosaic honors Emmy’s Legacy Giving Circle donors. Attendees heard from Café Co-Founder Killian Noe, who shared her thoughts on the journey to transformation. Emmy Nielson, Recovery Café’s very first financial supporter, joined Killian to share the story of their friendship and how the first gift to Recovery Café came to be. Dr. Claire Barnett, whose team of artists from Seattle Mosaic Arts created the tree mosaic pictured below, also shared her experience with tragedy and transformation. Program emcees David Coffey (Recovery Café Executive Director) and Dr. Rita Egrari (Recovery Café Board President) honored Emmy as well as Dr. Barnett and June Chang for making Emmy’s Legacy Giving Circle and the mosaic installation possible. After the program, attendees were invited to create mosaic leaves to accompany the names of donors who have committed legacy gifts to Recovery Café. Later this year, Café Members will also create their own leaves to be added.
